The “Converging Talent in Guangzhou” Entrepreneurship Invitation Competition & 2024 Domestic and International Digital Industry Talent Forum, as the first Guangzhou-hosted event of the 2024 Convention on Exchange of Overseas Talents and the 26th Guangzhou Convention of Overseas Chinese Scholars in Science and Technology, was successfully held on December 23, ahead of the main convention. As a co-organiser, the NUS Guangzhou Research Translation and Innovation Institute (NUS GRTII) strongly recommended Singapore-based technology enterprises in BLOCK71 Guangzhou to participate in the event. A total of 20 overseas talent projects were awarded Selected Project Prizes following fierce competition.

Jointly founded by AI experts from Singapore and China, Yimiji Technology (Guangzhou) Co., Ltd. is committed to developing AI-powered medical image processing and collaboration platforms, as well as intelligent surgical robots, to address various perioperative clinical needs, including preoperative planning, intraoperative navigation, postoperative assessment, surgical plan discussion and sharing, and precision surgery execution. Their proprietary AI-driven medical image processing platform has obtained medical device certifications from Singapore’s HSA, China’s NMPA, and the EU CE marking. It primarily serves clinical departments such as neurosurgery, cardiothoracic surgery, HPB surgery, urology, gastrointestinal surgery, and orthopedics. The platform has been widely applied in over 20 renowned hospitals in China and Singapore, earning high praise from users.

Guangzhou Newsight Photoscope Technology Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as “Newsight Photoscope”) is a high-tech enterprise dedicated to the R&D of microscopy technologies. The company was co-founded by Associate Professor Chen Nanguang from the NUS, together with a team of top PhD researchers. Professor Chen has conducted research in the field of biomedical optical imaging, with over 20 years of experience in both fundamental research and industrial translation. He also holds several international invention patents. Among these, the patented “Focal Modulation Microscopy (FMM)” technology was licensed to Carl Zeiss in 2010.
Representing the Singaporean projects introduced by NUS GRTII, Guangzhou Newsight Photoscope Technology Co., Ltd. was interviewed by Guangdong Radio and Television Station, Guangzhou Broadcasting Network, and many other media outlets. The company remarked that the roadshow was highly productive, with attending experts conducting a comprehensive evaluation of the project and offering multidimensional suggestions. NUS GRTII will continue to leverage NUS’s robust strengths to introduce and translate more international technological achievements, contributing Singapore’s strength to the technological innovation and industrial upgrading of the Huangpu District of Guangzhou and the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.
