Under the guidance of the Task Force for the Construction of Guangzhou Research Hospital Alliance, the Signing and Launching Ceremony of the Medical-Enterprise Joint R&D and Concept Verification Center was successfully held in Guangzhou recently. At the ceremony, Guangzhou Municipal Health Commission, Guangzhou Municipal Development and Reform Commission and other concerned parties witnessed the formal signing of a strategic partnership agreement between the NUS Guangzhou Research Translation and Innovation Institute (NUS GRTII), the First Affiliated Hospital of Guangzhou Medical University (FAHGMU) and Shenzhen Mindray Bio-Medical Electronics Co., Ltd. (Mindray Medical). In the future, the three parties will intensify collaboration primarily in cutting-edge medical fields including large-scale clinical models for critical care, respiratory disease treatment, and minimally invasive surgery. Associate Director (Research Translation) of NUS GRTII, Associate Professor Yu Haoyong signed the agreement on behalf of NUS GRTII.
The signing of this agreement initiates a substantive phase of the tripartite cooperation between NUS GRTII, FAHGMU and Mindray Medical. Leveraging NUS’s global scientific research network and substantial resources, NUS GRTII will provide internationalized innovation perspectives and technical support for the cooperation. FAHGMU, as one of the host institutions of the National Center for Respiratory Medicine, is poised to offer a wealth of clinical resources and expertise in diagnosis and treatment. Being a leading Chinese medical device manufacturer, Mindray Medical will contribute advanced engineering technologies and robust industrialization capabilities. By complementing each other’s unique strengths, the three parties will jointly establish a medical scientific and technological innovation ecosystem within the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, devoted to advancing the implementation of the Healthy China Initiative.
Moving forward, the NUS Guangzhou Research Translation and Innovation Institute will continuously deepen its collaboration with government agencies, academic institutions and commercial enterprises, expedite the construction of a scientific research achievement transformation chain connecting laboratories and clinical applications, and promote the synergistic and high-quality collaborative development of Guangzhou's healthcare sector and biomedical industry. All these efforts will serve to elevate the overall medical standards in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and foster local medical scientific and technological innovation.
