On the afternoon of March 28, 2024, the Innovation Forum for the Guangdong Hong Kong Macao Greater Bay Area of the National University of Singapore was successfully held in the new building of the National University of Singapore (Guangzhou) Research Translation and Innovation Institute (hereinafter referred to as the "Institute"). The theme of this forum is "Innovation and Entrepreneurship to Build a Smart City", which brings together elites from academia, industry, and politics to explore how to drive the construction of smart cities through innovation, promote regional economic development, and technological innovation.
Professor Tan Eng Chye, President of the National University of Singapore, led a delegation to the venue and delivered an opening speech. Professor Tan pointed out that this forum aims to build a high-level communication platform, and stimulate interdisciplinary and cross-sector innovative thinking exchanges. Additionally, the research institute will have a positive and far-reaching impact on the construction of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area in promoting scientific and technological innovation, talent cultivation, and integration of industry, academia and research.

The keynote speech segment of the forum was led by two heavyweight professors from the National University of Singapore. Professor Liu Bin, Executive Vice President (Research and Technology) of the National University of Singapore, shared the cutting-edge research achievements and practical experience of the National University of Singapore in the field of smart city construction, from the perspective of promoting biopharmaceutical research through material innovation. Professor Lin Shuide, Dean of the Institute of Medical Innovation and Technology at the University of China, focuses on the field of smart healthcare and analyzes in-depth how advanced technologies such as artificial intelligence and big data can lead future healthcare model changes, providing insightful advice for building a people-oriented smart healthcare system.

This event also set up two special forums, focusing on smart city construction issues from different dimensions. In Forum One "Innovation in Smart Cities: Leading the Future with Smart Healthcare", Associate Professor Yu Haoyong, Vice Dean (Scientific Research) of the Guangzhou Innovation Research Institute at the National University of Singapore, served as the host. He had an in-depth dialogue with Huang Weijian, a member of the Party Group and Deputy Director of the China Singapore Guangzhou Knowledge City Cooperation Affairs Office, Professor Zhu Qingtang, Vice Dean of the First Affiliated Hospital of Sun Yat sen University, Dr. Huang Jianguo, CEO of JN Medsys, a biotech company, and Mr. Wang Haijiao, Deputy General Manager of Gaotejia Investment, among other political, academic, and business elites, on hot issues such as technological trends, policy environment, and business model innovation of smart healthcare. This provided valuable strategies, suggestions and practical methods for promoting the implementation and application of smart healthcare in the Greater Bay Area.

Forum 2 "Alumni of National University of Singapore in the Greater Bay Area" shines brightly, bringing together several outstanding alumni from National University of Singapore, who have achieved outstanding achievements in their respective fields. Professor Leung Wai Si, Deputy Dean of Academic Affairs (Master's Program and Lifelong Education) at the National University of Singapore, served as the host and had an in-depth dialogue with guests including Mr. Chen Peijin, Consultant of China-Singapore Guangzhou Knowledge City Investment and Development Co., Ltd., Mr. Ye Junhong, Deputy Director of the South China Region of the Singapore Enterprise Development Bureau, and Dr. Cao Yang, Director of Research at Shangtang Technology. The guests shared their entrepreneurial experience, cooperation experience, and strategic thinking in the Greater Bay Area, demonstrating the important role of the alumni group from the National University of Singapore in promoting the construction of regional innovation ecosystems.
