In the Times Higher Education (THE) Asia University Rankings 2026, the National University of Singapore (NUS) has once again retained its position as 1st in Singapore and 3rd in Asia.

This recognition reflects how the entire NUS community—faculty, staff, and students alike—unites through shared aspirations and an enduring passion for discovery, firmly believing that education and research can build a better world. We extend our heartfelt thanks to every member of NUS for continually pushing boundaries and creating real impact through their work.

The world is changing at an unprecedented pace. As artificial intelligence reshapes the way we work and learn, NUS is actively building interdisciplinary learning pathways that empower students to think independently, collaborate across disciplines, and make meaningful contributions to society.

Our researchers are equally committed to tackling issues that matter to people everywhere—from energy, health, and sustainability to artificial intelligence, advanced materials, and the humanities and social sciences. By working hand in hand with industry, government, and community partners, we are ensuring that our research is translated into tangible real-world impact. The future holds great promise, and we are only just getting started.

Professor Aaron Thean, Deputy President (Academic Affairs) and Provost of NUS, said:

"We are proud to have maintained our standing as third in Asia and first in Singapore in the Times Higher Education Asia University Rankings 2026. This consistent performance reflects the sustained dedication and high standards of our faculty, researchers, students, and alumni over the years, and it affirms our unwavering commitment to creating impact in Singapore and across the globe.

As artificial intelligence transforms how people work and learn, the landscape of higher education is evolving at an accelerating pace. Universities must keep pace with the times, re-examining our educational and research pathways to prepare our students and deliver practical solutions for an increasingly complex world.

NUS is responding to this transformation through decisive action: we are continually developing interdisciplinary learning pathways to cultivate students' critical thinking, cross-disciplinary collaboration skills, and ability to make substantive contributions to their communities and society. Our research focuses on critical areas including energy, health, sustainability, artificial intelligence, advanced materials, and the humanities and social sciences. Through close collaboration with industry, government, and community partners, we ensure that every research endeavour addresses real needs and is translated into practical, actionable solutions."
